Once at the peak and with an experienced sky guide you’ll bask in its fascinating astronomical features and uncover the secrets of the night skies.

The Teide National Park

The Teide National Park is an idyllic place to observe the Milky Way and stargazing at night. There, one can see incredible sights such as the rings of Saturn, the Moon craters or infinite galaxies and nebula. The Teide and the peaks of Tenerife obtained the “Starlight” certificate in 2014, a worldwide recognition to its unique sky observation qualities.

The sky in Canarias has some rare conditions that make it into a spectacular place, such as its stable climate, its latitude near to the tropic and its low light pollution.

At the Cañadas of the Teide one can find the Guajara peak (2,717 meters). In this place, in 1856, Scottish astronomer Charles Piazzi Smyth, considered to be one of the fathers of modern astronomy, observed the stars, the moon and even the rings of Saturn. The scientist created there the first observatory in Canarias and was able to confirm, along with other researchers, that the Canary Islands were a unique place for the observation of the universe.
